We have finished the second day of the trek, and are presently at 3800 meters. We left the hotel yesterday and took a short Jeep ride up into the mountains. The road up leads to a hydro electric project and switchbacks uphill for 10 kms.
we got off half way and started to walk while the truck continued to the end. This was the start of our acclimatization process. At the end of the road we met up with our horses. We have 10 horses and 3 attendants to transport out gear up to Basecamp.
The first day was a fairly short trek of about 3 hours, ending at a Hindu shrine to the snake God. There is a natural formation in the rock that resembles that of a snake that makes this site significant.
We spent our first night here before continuing up a beautiful Valley. The scenery and hiking is world class, and our crew is competent and great to be with.
The trail follows the valley up to the head of the river whose source is from Deo Tibba.
